Last night I reunited with a good friend and band member, Kenyon Kowal.  It was awesome to be able to catch up with him and towards the end of the night we began talking about possibly recording an EP while I'm in Sarasota, FL this week.  Really looking forward to playing music with him again (it's been since October!), figuring out some Koala stuff, and the possibility of recording another EP as a duo.

So keep an ear our for that, and in the meantime you can check out an EP we made almost two years ago now, "depart/distance/difference".  We made it as some friends began moving away - for me my brother leaving to go to college (in Sarasota, where I'm visiting now) and other good friends either leaving Boston for internships or graduating from Berklee and dispersing across the country.  In my mind it's about a process - of the departure (saying your "see you later" to that someone knowing it'll be a while before you see them again), feeling the distance apart and missing that person, and then realizing that this person is going to be growing in different ways wherever they are and that the next time you see them they will be different in some way. "Become Who You Are" - Debut Album by Holiday Mountain

Holiday Mountain's first full length album is finally finished!

This is a band that I've been playing fretless guitar in with for the last year and I'm very excited about how this record came out.  Physical copies will be out later this month and we'll be playing lots of shows coming up!

Treefort - Bedroom Single

Koala just released a new version of "Treefort" that you can check out here:

We recorded it in October 2011 (the night before Kenyon left Boston) for Bedroom Singles, a really awesome website created by James Krivchenia where bands spend a few hours recording a unique rendition of a song in his bedroom and the song is made available to for streaming and free downloading here - http://bedroomsingles.com/

Other bands that have done bedroom singles that are currently available are Old Abram Brown, We Avalanche, Emily Peal, and Laura Jorgenson.  There are many more awesome ones to come including one by Holiday Mountain.

This is a photograph of the event that inspired the song.  The burning of one of my best friend's treefort.  Which in a way felt like very ceremonial...
