Update - Sorry for the Wait

Hey all,

So I don't usually post something in here without having new music or a show to post about…but folks have been asking about it since I've dropped off for a bit socially working on music, and it's been over two months since I've said anything about the music that I'm making, so figured I'd post an update to fill y'all in a bit.

First of all, since my first live show in November I've been working a ton on the live set and trying a lot of different things out.  I've been reimagining some of the tunes from my Kaleidoscope EP, working on visuals (which have been put on hold for a bit), writing a lot of new material, and I've got some new gear and have been changing my set-up quite a bit.  But I promise that by the end of March I will have shows set up and will be gigging again.

On a somewhat unrelated note - the new Koala album is mixed and mastered and almost ready for your ears to hear.  We are hammering out some details.  One question I have been getting a ton is if the new album is like Xibalba - and the answer is mostly no.  Xibalba was inspired by experiences in the real world - lessons learned and emotions felt from experiences that served as rites of passages.  This album is inspired by dreams we had, and the emotions we felt from these movies made by our subconscious minds.  While the compositions in Xibalba are based in ways of experiencing and thinking in the waking world, this album follows dream logic.  We are really excited to finally put this album out there, and we are truly sorry to keep you waiting more than a year and a half since we recorded it - but we want to make sure that everything is done right, so it will be worth the wait.  And I promise you will be hearing more from Koala in the very near future.

I know I've posted about the closing track from Xibalba "Hope I live before I Get Old" and our Bedroom Single version of "Treefort" on here, but feel free to check out the rest of our debut album from 2010 while you're waiting for more.

Much love,

Mike
