For the past five years I've been blessed with the opportunity to work at some camps for Next Step (an organization that puts together programs for youth living with life threatening illnesses at absolutely no cost for the youth). Working as a music therapist at these camp/conferences has been nothing short of life changing - and I'm sure many who have been a part of their programs would probably say the say the same (both staff and youth).
So because they charge the youth nothing to attend - a huge chunk of the money that is required for running these camp/conferences comes from an annual benefit/party that they throw every year. This year, it falls on the Spring Solstice, Friday, March 20th.
I'll be playing guitar in the house band for it (which is made up of all music therapists), and I promise Kimberly Khare has cooked up some tasty new medley madness.
So if you don't have spring solstice plans yet, I promise this will be a great start to the season - this event is always a blast and I look forward to it every year. I know an $80 donation is a lot of money - but Next Step is the real deal: the difference that this non-profit is able to make in so many young people's lives every year is seriously mind blowing - and it's those donations that allow them to make their magic happen.
And every penny still counts, so if you want to help out but can't afford the price of the ticket, here's where you can donate.
Much love,
Mike
