Tavern at the End of the World 7/13

Playing a set tomorrow at Tavern at the End of the World (108 Cambridge Street, Charlestown, MA)

Since multiple people I trust told me the set I played at Agewood and my parents house was the best set I've played so far and that I should play it more - I'll be playing that one more time.  So if you haven't seen that yet or want to see it one more time then come on out.

JP PORCHFEST

Super pumped to playing at JP Porchfest this Saturday!

There are a bunch of porches involved and nearly 100 acts playing this year - check http://jpporchfest.org for the full line up, map and schedule.

I'm playing at 14 Sunnyside Street.  Dinnersss will be playing on this porch at noon till 2:00, from 2-4 will be some guest DJs, and then I'll be playing from 4:00-6:00.
This is my longest set to date by far.  Since I'm not sure anyone should consume this much of my music in one sitting, and since there is a lot of other music to see that will be happening at other porches during this time, I wanted to give a quick breakdown of my set with my best guess of what I'll be doing when in case you're familiar with my material, are planning out your time porchfest experience, and trying to figure out what time to drop by (:

4:00 PM - 4:25 PM - A Story About Love
4:25 PM - 4:50 PM - Time Travel is Dangerous
4:50 PM - 5:15 - Skeptic
5:15 PM - 5:20 PM - Why?
5:20 PM - 5:35 PM - I Want You (and other things people wanted in the 90s)
5:35 PM - 5:40 PM - Fixing a Clock
5:40 PM - 6:00 PM - Initiation

Hope to catch you there!

Much love,

Mike

AGEWOOD 2015

The Agewood Summer Solstice Festival has had a pretty huge impact on my multi-media project.  Back in 2012 I went to Agewood for the first time and it inspired me to shift what I was doing from just recording songs and releasing them online, into wanting to play live shows with visuals.  Last year I played at Agewood for the first time - and it was pretty much the first show that I would consider my project fully up and running.

This year Agewood was in a new location for the first time - and through the crazy hard work of a lot of some crazy awesome folks the festival was reborn in this new space in Maine.

Here's the last few minutes of my set from this year:

Every year there is a compilation that is put together of all the artists who are a part of it.  Here's the track I submitted for it this year, "Ouroboros":

The track uses material from the score I composed for a short film in the Rhode Island 48 Hour Film Festival from 2008 called "Ouroboros" (I made all the music for it - but the part of it that I recycled is from the seance scene which starts at 4:25), a song called "Reflection" which I made under the moniker Clock With No Hands back in 2009ish (I think it's on the interwebs somewhere...but I can't find it), a bit of a children's song called "Here We Go Loopty Loo", and some new stuff.

The whole compilation is available for download and streaming via bandcamp:

Happy Summer,

Mike Simonelli

Acoustic Set from Over Comings 2015

Here's the audio my set from Overcomings last weekend in case you want to check it out.  Keep in mind it's my first acoustic set...so some bits are a bit rocky - the second half is definitely stronger than the first.

Thanks to Aaron Derman for recording and sharing!

And here's some stills thanks to Mjolnir Productions:

Much love,

Mike

OVER COMINGS 2015 @ Benson Park (Hodson, NH)

Hey y'all,

Got a couple firsts coming up this Saturday - it'll be my first show in NH as well as my first all acoustic set.

I finished working out the set this afternoon - and it was weird playing my music without being painted white and having visuals, and lots of pedals and ipads and such - it kind of felt very naked...but I kind of like it.  Being naked is nice sometimes.  And so is not having to pack a bunch of gear and being able to practice your set outside.

There will be other great things happening during the day at Over Comings: lots of awesome live music, hammocks, tea, art, yoga, open jam areas, food (it's a pot-luck), and live painters.

Check out the rad flyer courtesy of Adam Blake:

Looking forward to it!!!

Much love,

Mike
